Blah, Blah, Blog

The Poshranch is 1 year old!

I haven’t felt like writing this blog for many months. Not sure why, but considering it’s been just over a year since we moved to the wild, wild west (hold the phone….we moved almost straight north of where we used to live so why is Wyoming considered more western??) I thought it was time to sit down at my computer and share my thoughts for whomever may be interested.

I’m sitting here reflecting on all the changes in the last year, both personally and in the world.

I knew very little about Wyoming when we first moved (see first blog concerning whether or not the state of Wyoming even exists at all). We haven’t even made a dent in exploring all there is to explore about the state, but we have done some exploring in Cheyenne. We have discovered many restaurants downtown that have become favorites. Another interesting thing about downtown Cheyenne is all the 8-foot tall boots, each depicting a party of Wyoming history. Each boot was painted by a different artist. I have not had the chance to explore the history that is presented on each boot, but maybe that will be a future blah, blah, blog writing.

We love our land just outside of the city limits. Even though it’s not much in the big picture (just over 5 acres) it is a lot for us and takes a lot of upkeep. Neal works hard keeping the lawn trimmed, trees watered and fixing anything that breaks. We built a greenhouse in May and just had planter beds build inside. It is awesome and that will be my next blog topic.

Greenhouse model. Sort of looks like a UFO.

The three dogs love the yard. In the winter they romp around in the snow and in the summer hide in the grass. They enjoy hanging out on the patio with their people and sometimes even try to sit in the hammock.

And speaking of snow…..we had a record snowstorm in March. Thank goodness we had JD to help us plow our driveway or we would not have gotten out for weeks! No way we could have shoveled our huge driveway.

Overall, it has been a great year. We are still adjusting to life in Wyoming in some ways (some in the household more than others), but I have met some great new friends, learned to tolerate the wind (another future blog topic) and feel more and more like a Wyomingite. The year has gone by super fast and I can’t believe the Poshranch is a year old. We celebrated July 4 this year with some amazing fireworks in our front yard and in a way that was also the celebration of our first year in Cheyenne. Can I call myself a Wyomingite yet?

In case you haven’t read my blog post about visitors, we love visitors! We have a room that we keep clean just for visitors to the Poshranch. If the Wyoming spirit moves you, please come visit us. We can’t wait to see you!

Until next time…

Wyomingite Rebecca

  1. It’s hard to believe a year has already gone by! I’ve got to come see the posh ranch, the Cheyenne boot (completely cool!), and most importantly YOU! I’ll text you dates.
